Information we collect
Pressrun is a service of The Narrative Company, LLC, doing business as Pressrun (“Pressrun,” “we,” “us”). Pressrun collects information you provide to us, such as your name, email address, mobile phone number, account information, project details, interview recordings, transcripts, manuscripts, and messages with our team. We also collect limited technical and usage information needed to secure, operate, and improve the service.
How we use information
We use information to provide and secure Pressrun, authenticate users, communicate about book projects, schedule and conduct interviews, create and deliver project materials, process payments, provide support, comply with law, and operate, develop, and improve Pressrun's products and services, including AI models, as described under Recordings and AI.
Recordings and AI
Your conversations with Pressrun's AI interviewer are recorded and transcribed to make your book. The interviewer says so at the start of every conversation. If you object to recording or transcription, the interviewer ends the conversation and nothing from it is used in your book; we keep that recording as a record of the notice and your objection.
We also use your content, such as conversation transcripts, stories, and drafts, to operate, develop, and improve Pressrun's products and services, including AI models, features, and services Pressrun offers now or in the future. This is part of our Terms of Service, which you accept when you create your account. If you accepted an earlier version of our Terms, we do not use your content to train AI models until you accept the current version when we ask you to, and we use stories to train AI models only when the storyteller has accepted our Terms themselves.
We do not sell your manuscripts, drafts, transcripts, or project materials, and we do not publish your private stories without your permission. Information from your Google account, and anything derived from it, is never used to train AI models.
If you ask us to delete your information, we stop using it for future training. Deletion does not automatically reverse what a model has already learned; we assess deletion requests under applicable law and take any further steps it requires.
Connected email and calendar
For each book, only the person it is about can connect an email account. We do not read a buyer’s or teammate’s mailbox to learn about someone else.
If you choose to connect a Google or Microsoft account, we ask for read-only access through our connection provider, Unipile: Gmail for Google, or mail and calendar for Microsoft. We read a selection of up to about 300 messages across up to ten years, chosen for variety; attachments are not opened. This includes selected sent and received mail; Microsoft also includes calendar events. We skip drafts, spam, trash and attachments. TypeSafe ranks selected messages for relevance and screens selected text from sent and received mail and Microsoft calendar events to exclude sensitive, quoted or automated passages. OpenAI turns the screened text into short notes about people, places, periods, work, education, interests and values. TypeSafe checks each note, together with your name.
We keep only those notes and, for each note, how many of your messages supported it and roughly when. We never keep copies of your messages or events. We also keep an unreadable key for each supporting message and whether it was sent, received or a calendar event. We never keep message bodies, subjects, addresses, exact dates or provider message IDs. The connection stays until you disconnect it, delete what we learned from email, or revoke access with Google or Microsoft. The notes show only to you, may be used by the interviewer for your book as gentle leads, and can be edited or deleted at any time in Settings > Integrations, your Library profile or on your private storyteller link. We read again only when you ask. We keep minimal records of details you removed so they won’t return if you reconnect. Information from a connected Google or Microsoft account, and anything derived from it, is never used to train AI models, and our use of Google data follows Google's Limited Use requirements.
Text messages and mobile information
Mobile phone numbers collected for text messaging are not sold, rented, or shared with any third party or affiliate for marketing or promotional purposes. Numbers are shared only with the messaging providers that deliver the messages on our behalf, whether by SMS, RCS, or iMessage. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party.
Pressrun uses two message streams. The verification stream sends one SMS code for each sign-up, log-in, or password-reset attempt you initiate. The business-message stream covers your book project, including scheduling and draft updates, and may reach you by SMS, RCS, or iMessage depending on your device; frequency varies and is typically fewer than 5 messages per week. Message and data rates may apply.
You agree to calls and texts about your book when you give us your number to sign up, beside the line that says so. If someone sets up story calls for you, they confirm that you know about the book and are happy to hear from us; our first text says who we are, who set it up, and how to stop. Texting our number first also opts you in to replies about your book.
Reply STOP on any channel to opt out, and we stop texting and calling that number. Reply START to opt in again. Reply HELP for help, or contact us through our support page. The full program is described on our text messaging page.
When we disclose information
We disclose information to service providers that help us operate Pressrun, including hosting, authentication, messaging, payment, analytics, and professional-services providers. They may use the information only to provide services to us. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets. Messaging consent and mobile information are not transferred for third parties' marketing purposes.
Retention and security
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure.
To protect sign-in from automated abuse, we use Cloudflare Turnstile, which collects limited technical information about your browser and device. Cloudflare handles that information under its Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
Your choices
You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions. You can request a copy of your information or its deletion from Privacy & AI in your account settings or on your private storyteller link, or by writing to privacy@pressrun.ai. We may need to confirm it's you, and we keep records the law requires us to keep, such as payment records. You can stop business text messages at any time by replying STOP. Authentication messages are sent only when you request a verification code.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy and will post the revised date here. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to privacy@pressrun.ai or through our support page.
